At YogAntigua, you will find the opportunity to reduce stress, to breathe freely, and to gain strength, flexibility, and peace of mind. We are dedicated to providing a safe, educational, and fun environment for the practice of yoga. We offer classes for beginners as well as for experienced yoga students who wish to broaden their practice. You are encouraged to work at your own pace, honoring your limitations and abilities.
.
Our community classes are priced low in order that people who are living on the quetzal economy may be able to participate. If you can afford to pay more and would like to make a donation, YogAntigua will give a partial scholarship to a needy Guatemalan student, or teach a yoga workshop to children in the Safe Passages Program (Caminos Seguros).

Rae has taught yoga in Antigua since 2002 and also guest teaches at Lake Atitlan and in the U.S. She has studied at Nosara Yoga Institute in Costa Rica and at Spirit Rock Meditation Center in California, as well as with a wide array of independent teachers. She has led several yoga retreats at Lake Atitlan, most recently at Villa Sumaya. She also teaches yoga in meditation retreats (meditation teachers Ulli Goerke and Sensei Doug Duncan).
Her teaching incorporates a mix of vinyasa flow (sequenced movements linked with breath), yin yoga (gentle, passive poses) and the practice of mindfulness. Her extensive background in the movement arts of dance, capoeira, and tai chi is also reflected in the creative, fluid style of her classes. These classes focus on integrating the experience of the body with that of the mind.
Private classes at any level are available on a short-term or regular basis. Rae’s experience includes work with all ages, levels of experience and fitness, and work with people with physical limitations. She believes that some form of yoga can be practiced by anyone who has the desire to do it, and helps students develop a compassionate relationship with their bodies as well as a committed yoga practice.

Liz has been practicing yoga for 13 years, from her native New Zealand, through Australia, Europe (France), the Caribbean, US (Florida), Galapagos, to Guatemala.
She has studied, and been influenced by Iyengar, Vinyasa, and Bikram styles of yoga. Liz trained with Paula Tursi of Reflections Yoga, NYC and is registered with Yoga Alliance.
Liz began teaching with YogAntigua in 2008. In addition to teaching community classes, she also teaches specially designed classes for men, children, and teens with an emphasis on anatomical alignment and body/mind connection. Liz has attended workshops with Rodney Yee, Gary Kraftsow, Anna Forrest, Cindy Lee and Desiree Rumbaugh.
Through all the transitions of her life -- travel, two pregnancies, work, family life - yoga has been the constant thread that has helped Liz maintain balance. She believes that to achieve contentment one must have health (physical need), knowledge (psychological need) and inner calmness (spiritual need). With the presence of these comes harmony and this is the way and purpose of yoga. Liz is very excited to be part of YogAntigua and looks forward to sharing the physical and spiritual benefits of yoga with her students.
